Final Edits Book 4 – and a Cat

I received the final revisions from my editor yesterday. Now I just need to working on checking them, formatting, finishing the covers and then hit the publish button. I should have that finished sometime next week, the goal is to have everything go up on the 1st. But I also thought about getting the paperback finished, then reviewing it, then publishing it. If I do that then it might be after the 1st. We’ll see how things go. It is good to know though that within the next couple of weeks, “The Nest” will be out there. I enjoyed writing the book and I hope you will enjoy reading it.

We have two dogs and last weekend my daughter rescued a cat from a box beside the store she works at. So we’ve been busy with it, unfortunately Lisa and Haley are both really allergic to it so we’ve been working on finding it a new home. Needless to say this has not been an easy process at all.

Book 8 is coming along nicely. The goal is to finish writing it during Nanowrimo. Then finish 9 (Dec, Jan), 10 (Feb, Mar), 11 (April, May) and 12 (June, July). After that I’m not sure what I will write, I guess I will sit down at the keyboard and just start hitting some keys.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend – I know I will be working!!

Friday Update – Edits and a Concert

Disciple Concert
Disciple Concert

Awesome week – hopefully you had a great one as well.

Edits on Book 4

I have sent my edits to the Editor so this is her last round of edits. This means, hopefully by next week I will have the semi final version of the book, and if things go well I will have the final version done next week. I have been thinking just to delay it till the first of the month. If I hear a lot of cries of woe from you guys (which is the reason I write anyway), then I’ll put it out. I also have a tentative schedule for the rest of the books.

Book 4 – November
Book 5 – Feb 2014
Book 6 – May 2014
Book 7 – July 2014
Book 8 – Sept 2014
Book 9 – Nov 2014
Book 10 Jan 2015
Book 11 Feb 2015
Book 12 – March 2015

The goal is to get ahead of the editing curve. If I can do that then everything is good.

Book 8 –

If you’ve ever written a book, usually the first pages of a new book are hard. Now I am past that and we’ll be crusing along. I would say what thread I’m writing on, but that would be spoilers, so I won’t do that. I will say the thread I’m working on now tells the backstory of one of the characters.

The concert –

Went to see a a concert on Weds and it was awesome. My wife, Haley and I went to see a Disciple concert and had so much fun. I enjoy music, it motivates me, inspires me. The drive was long so we didn’t get back home till almost midnight so yesterday I was still tired.

The website –

I have been working on the website, trying to make it easier to use, and navigate. I still have some tweaks to make on it, but those should be done this weekend. The goal is to be able to sell some books from it, we should have that all squared away by November. If you would like to see something we haven’t included, please let me know.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Productive Week – Book 4 Final Edits, Book 7 Done, Started Book 8

A good week.

Finished writing book 7. Started writing book 8 today (yipee). Book 7 is the longest so far, I think around 140,000 words or so. I noramlly like to set the book aside and let it rest for a bit.

The best news though is got the middle edits in from book 4 and so the final edits will be hopefully done within the next week or two. Again I am super excited. If you haven’t done it yet, it is so very cool to see how the words change from the first time you wrote them, to the final words you see on the page.

As normal for Book 8 I have a rough outline in mind, things that need to happen during the book (I actually have things outlined [roughly] through book 12).

I have also been working on getting the website tweaked a bit, hope that by next week you’ll be able to buy the books from here, if you wish.

I’ll be finishing my part of the edits this weekend, so I’ll be busy, but hope you enjoy yours no matter what you are doing.

Friday Update – no Control

Happy Friday and welcome to another update.

It looks like Book 4 may not be out in October. My editor has been under the weather, so there has been some delay. I would just like to take a moment and remind you, as an author their are some things you have no control over. You do have some control, you can control how much you write every day, you can control how you connect with your readers, and then there are some things you just have to accept, and try to do better next time.

This week went by quickly and I did mange to get quite a bit done writing book 7, in fact it should be finished by this weekend and if not this week, then hopefully by next week. Then I think I’ll do some rough plotting for books 8 – 12. I just want to make sure I haven’t forgotten something important. I’m more than halfway through, so that’s good news. I’m not sure how many words I’ll have when I’m finished.

Hopefully you enjoy your weekend.

Friday Fun – #1

Hope your week has gone well. I know it has been awhile since I posted and I want to change that. So from now on every Friday we’ll give you an update called Friday fun. We’ll give you a wrap up of what we’ve been doing this week.

Book 4 – the second round of edits – still in progress. This is a part of the process I have no control over, which I hate, more than you could know. I don’t want to rush them but… Once that edit is back to me, it will take me about a week to go through it and then send it back for the final line edits. I was hoping it would be out the first week of October, but I don’t think it will. Hopefully I’ll hit October sometime. Maybe I need to rethink how I do the editing process.

Book 7 – the one I’m currently writing. This book has made me laugh and cry while writing it. That’s all I’m going to say about it, I have enjoyed it. I have one more thread to write and then I’ll start on Book 8. I already have the name for Book 7, but even telling you the name would give some of the story away and I don’t want to do that. Currently it’s at 117k words. I can see now how some people write 5 or 600 page works.

Monday, took a road trip with my wife to get a follow up mammogram and to buy some tires. I know those don’t really go together very well. The mammogram went well, and that is always a blessing. Tires are something you have to buy, like insurance, or your power bill. You have to pay it, so you might as well smile when you’re paying for it.

Also it’s football season, and I do love football. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

12 Guardians – the First Three Paperback edition is up.

Another Busy week. Hope whatever you’ve been doing, it has been fun.

A few things you may be interested in.

The paperback is online and available. It includes books 1,2, and 3 of the 12 Guardians series. If you buy the book, you get the digital file free (or at least that’s how I set it up). If you have trouble getting the freebie let me know and I’ll send it to you.

You can find the paperback here – http://www.amazon.com/12-Guardians-The-First-Three/dp/1492116998/?tag=boobytim0f-20

The kindle version is here – http://www.amazon.com/12-Guardians-The-First-Three/dp/1492116998/?tag=boobytim0f-20

Note the digital version will be free for a couple of days in October.

Free next week on the 19th and 20th will be book 3.

Book 4 this week we completed the 2nd round of edits, so it should be out in October. We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Edits, proofs and other stuff

proofWhat a busy week it has been. I would say I’m glad it’s Friday but I’ll be working this weekend on trying to finish my third edits on Book 4. I hope to have it finished by next week sometime. I have a few passages I need to add. I don’t know if I have mentioned it or not, but in the fourth book, you’ll also get a short for free!! Free is always good.

Monday was Labor Day, I usually work on that particular holiday and I did this year as well. On Tuesday my proof copy cam for my payper back book. That’s the photo you see on this page. It looked good and I approved it so next week sometime it should be up on Amazon. Next week I should also be finished doing the digital version and we’ll offer both of them at the same time. I really like Amazon’s new program, where you buy the paperback and get the digital version for free or at a super discounted price. I’ll be playing with the prices.

Weds, I got my first edits back, so been working on trying to get those finished. I’ve given myself a week. I do not enjoy editing as much as I do writing, but it’s all part of the process that makes it a book you want to read.

Hope you have a good weekend and hope you get a chance to do something fun!

First paperback proof is on its way…

september

I have just completed the first round of submissions for my first paperback. It will include the first three books in the 12 Guardians series. My proof is on it’s way to me, I’ll then check it out and if it looks ok then it will be approved and ready to sale. Hope to have it online and ready for sale sometime next week. The goal to have the digital version of that book will be the first of September.

My edits are coming along nicely for book 5. Book 4 is still at the editor. Book 7 continuing to write, as I’ve mentioned before I usually write threads, this book has two main threads, one in Jesus time and the other now. I am almost done with the now thread and then I’ll start on the Jesus one. So I guess you could say I’m getting close to halfway there. This has been a harder book to write for a number of different reasons, I don’t want to go into details or I would spoil it for you, but I’m excited I’m halfway there. Like I’ve mentioned before, sometimes my characters start to go way off track and do their own thing, which is fine with me, sometimes it’s just hard to corral them back by the last page.

I will be giving some hints on creating your createspace masterpiece probably sometime next week, I’ll send some pictures when I have  my proof.  Also if I don’t speak with you before next week I hope you and your family have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!!

Busy as a Bee

Hope your week is going well. I’ve been super busy working on writing book 7, doing my edits on book 5 (I usually do two edits before I send them to my editor), trying to get my first three books formatted for a paperback, and making some money doing what pays the bills. Whew.

Today, hopefully I will have the book ready and submitted to createspace. I thought the process would just be to take the three books I already have and combining them and hit submit. Not the case at all, but I hope to finish that today and I’ll submit some notes I’ve taken on the process. The good thing is usually a process takes a long time when you do it initially and then each time you do it, you get faster. I do know it’s important to get a book that people can hold in their hands. As always I’ll let you know how things go.

Enjoy your Tuesday.

Summer is winding down

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I did, went with my wife and daughter on a road trip. We spent the weekend in Lexington and had a wonderful time. I can’t believe that summer is almost over and Haley will be starting her junior year in high school tomorrow, she’ll be trying for her drivers license in a little over a week. My how time flies. I didn’t get to see her as much as I wanted to this summer, since she was working at her ‘job’ for most of the summer.

Book 7 – work is coming along nicely. If I told you something about it, I think I would give too much of the plot away, so I’ll just say it’s progressing. I finished my first round (two) of edits for book 4 and I should have that to the editor tomorrow for her first round. The editing process is taking a little longer than I thought it would, so that’s why the next book will be out in October, although if you’ve been around me long, you will know if the edits are finished then I’ll be putting it out before then.

After I finish with my bit and send it off, I’ll be working on getting the paperback edition of Guardians 1,2,3 done. I hope to have that done in a week or so. I have been pleasantly surprised by people that have told me they would love to get it as a paper back. I’ll put some notes on my process, how it goes, how easy it was (or wasn’t). Then I think I’ll test the waters for an audio book, I think I might have to read it myself and I’m definitely not sure how that would go…. I don’t know how long my voice would hold out. I may try it anyway, just to test the waters.

One thing I don’t know if I’ve mentioned before, with book 4 we’ll be also editing a short story (about 10k words) which we wrote in a day. We’ll be making that available free in a number of different ways.

Have a wonderful evening.
